Cheryl Cole will be paid £250,000 more than Dannii Minogue on the new series of The X Factor, according to a report.
The Sunday Mirror claims that both stars are hoping to receive £1 million salaries this year, but Minogue is likely to be left disappointed.
Girls Aloud star Cole is believed to have landed a £750,000 contract when she made her debut on the ITV1 talent show in 2008. Aussie singer Minogue, who joined in 2007, reportedly received £500,000 last year.
Sources have now revealed that Cole is expected to secure a £1 million contract for the next series, while Minogue will receive £750,000.
An insider told the newspaper: “Cheryl remains the golden girl – the one they all want. That gives her huge leverage to make a lot of money from The X Factor. When it comes to the crunch, bosses will bend over backwards to ensure she signs on the dotted line.
“She’s already on more than Dannii, so getting £1 million isn’t such a huge leap. But Dannii isn’t in such a strong position. The pay leap is too big. She’ll get a pay rise, but it still won’t be in Cheryl’s league.”
Simon Cowell reportedly decided to offer a new contract to Minogue after realising that she was “the talking point” of last year’s series.
